Ankathari (Practise of Metal Weapons) – Once the student has become proficient with
all the wooden weapons, he/she proceeds to training with metal weapons, which demands
superior concentration due to their lethal nature. The metal weapons taught are the Kadara
(dagger), Udaval (fencing sword), Valum Parichayum (Sword & Shield). Highly skilled
students are then trained with Urumi (flexible sword) which are more dangerous in nature.
Shriram a.k.a Kalariyogi Shriram is a Kalaripayattu and Yoga teacher based in Bangalore.
Keen interest in Indian art and culture drove to become an internationally certified Yoga
instructor and explore Kalaripayattu.
He is trained in Vadakkan Style of Kalaripayattu and comes from the lineage of P.K Balan
gurukkal. He has trained Under Gurukkal Ranjan Mullaratt and certified by Kalari
Shriram continues to learn different forms of Kalaripayattu under different gurukkals and
using this deep knowledge on yoga and yoga sciences works on spreading Kalaripayattu as a
yogic martial art.
